AI Everywhere: A Watershed Moment for Intel and the PC Industry
The Intel media blitz is well underway in the leadup to the official AI Everywhere event in New York on 14 December. As many industry analysts and observers have already noted, the launch of this new generation of Intel Core Ultra processors is a watershed moment not just for the company after a few tough years but also the entire PC market.
As Intel CEO Patrick Gelsinger has pointed out in his press interviews, Intel is still the dominant player in the processor market and the only one with the capacity to ship hundreds of millions of devices. Its huge volumes also make it a particularly attractive partner for software developers, who will be critical for bringing innovative new AI applications to market. According to Gelsinger, the company signed up over a hundred so far, including Adobe, Audacity, Zoom, and CyberLink.
Whether the launch will be a Centrino-like moment, when Intel redefined the notebook and drove rapid global Wi-Fi adoption, is too early to tell, but the company is certainly taking the right steps to deliver on its AI Everywhere promise.
